The product does what it promises: NPS and CSAT surveys, live dashboards, leaderboards, and a clear line from a low score to the person who can fix it.

But the Learn plan starts at a hefty per-month price, billed annually, and the price climbs with every response.

That alone would not have pushed me out. What did was how much of the useful part sits higher up. In-app and mobile delivery, native Slack and Teams links, and the stronger Salesforce options all belong to the upper tiers, and Grow and Transform are quoted rather than posted.

That led me to compare ten other tools on surveys, channels, analysis, and cost. Qualaroo is one of them, and I am direct about where it comes up short. A quick filter: decide whether you need AskNicely’s frontline coaching or a broader feedback toolkit, since that narrows the field fast.

Why Are Teams Looking for AskNicely Alternatives?

AskNicely is well reviewed, and nothing below says otherwise. These are the points where its pricing page and my own time with it suggested that some teams would be better served elsewhere. Each one is about fit: what you pay as volume grows, which channels sit behind which tier, and how wide the toolkit is.

Pricing Starts High and Scales With Responses

The Learn plan is quite pricey, covering users without limit but only 500 responses, with the price rising as response volume grows. Grow and Transform carries no public figure at all. Add-ons such as single sign-on, overages, and the newer AI features add to the total. A program that doubles its survey volume watches the bill follow.

Key Channels and Integrations Sit on Higher Tiers

In-app and mobile survey delivery are reserved for higher plans, and some advanced channels need the top tier. Native Slack and Microsoft Teams integrations come with Grow, and the stronger Salesforce options require more than the entry plan. A team that wants feedback on its product has to climb before it can start. That is the opposite of how I like to test a tool.

The Product Is Built Around NPS and CSAT

AskNicely covers NPS and CSAT, and its question formatting is more restrictive than a general survey builder’s. NPS is its core framework, and relying on a single measure can narrow what you learn. When a team wants customer effort scores, product feedback, or free-form research, the toolkit starts to feel small. Heavy customization may also require services or a higher plan.

The Interface and Reporting Feel Dated

In my experience, the interface felt older than the rest of the product, editing was not smooth, and the analytics offered only a few filters. Reporting that stays basic is easy to live with at first, and frustrating once leadership asks for cuts by segment. Capterra scores AskNicely 4.6, so these are fit problems rather than quality problems.

The Top 10 AskNicely Alternatives

Below, each tool appears with its entry price, Capterra rating, and my notes. Qualaroo asks in-context across the website and product on a free plan, with native AI analysis, though AskNicely’s leaderboards and coaching workflows are stronger for service teams.

Pricing: Free plan available, up to 50 responses with all premium features. Essentials at $19.99/month, Business at $49.99/month, and Enterprise from $149.99/month.

User Rating: 4.7/5 (Capterra)

Hootsuite used Qualaroo to hear customers in their own words, and learned that visitors were bouncing off its branded landing page because the core value proposition was unclear. After a full redesign based on that feedback, conversions rose 16 percent with 98 percent statistical significance.

 View Complete Success Story

2. Retently: Best for Keeping the NPS Focus at a Lower Cost

If it is AskNicely’s single-minded NPS focus you want to keep, Retently is the closest match, and the entry price is far lower: plans start at $99 a month, compared to AskNicely’s $449, with a 7-day trial in place of a free tier.

Chargify, a B2B billing platform, used its survey templates to get questions in front of customers right away and begin learning what they valued and what needed work. Surveys can go out via email, link, embed, Intercom, kiosk, or web pop-up; branching adds follow-up questions, and surveys can be translated.

Two cautions. Usage runs on credits that every sent email, opened in-app or link survey, and reminder consumes, and the tool leans almost entirely on NPS, with thin in-app features. Capterra’s 4.9 comes from only 30 reviews.

Pros

NPS, CSAT, and CES surveys with templates

Branching and multilingual surveys

Delivery by email, link, embed, Intercom, kiosk, and pop-up

An entry price far below AskNicely’s

Cons

Credits are spent on sends, opens, and reminders

Heavily NPS-focused, with limited in-app features

How Retently Compares to AskNicely: Retently keeps the NPS focus at a much lower entry price, but without AskNicely’s leaderboards and frontline coaching, and with a credit meter in place of response tiers.

Pricing: Paid plans start at $99/month, with a 7-day trial.

User Rating: 4.9/5 (Capterra)

3. Survicate: Best for Opening In-App and Web Surveys Without a Tier Gate

Survicate is the one I would test first if AskNicely’s channel tiers are the sticking point. Surveys can run on the website, within the product, via email, or through a link, and every response is collected in a single Research Hub rather than scattered across exports.

Rules based on attributes and events decide who sees each question, partial answers still count when someone abandons a survey, and AI-assisted analysis clusters comments into themes. You get NPS, CSAT, and CES formats without extra modules.

A permanent free plan allows 25 responses a month, so you can try it before spending. Paid plans start at $114 per month and increase with the response volume you choose. There are no leaderboards or coaching tools aimed at frontline staff.

Pros

One Research Hub for every channel it reaches

AI-assisted clustering of comments into themes

NPS, CSAT, and CES formats included

A permanent free plan

Cons

The price rises with response volume

No leaderboards or frontline coaching tools

How Survicate Compares to AskNicely: Survicate opens in-app and web surveys on its paid plans and starts free, but it has no real-time team leaderboards like AskNicely.

Pricing: Free plan available, up to 25 responses a month. Paid plans start at $114/month.

User Rating: 4.6/5 (Capterra)

4. Zonka Feedback: Best for Closing the Loop Across Many Channels

Zonka Feedback comes closest to AskNicely’s habit of getting a complaint to the right person quickly, and it does so across a much longer channel list: email, SMS, tablets, kiosks, websites, and offline devices.

Alerts flag an unhappy customer as it happens, closed-loop workflows route the comment to an owner, and AI Feedback Intelligence studies the text for recurring themes, mood, and trends. Data can be hosted regionally for teams with residency rules, and role-based access and single sign-on suit larger teams.

You will need a quote because pricing is unpublished, and Capterra’s 4.8 comes from 68 reviews, a modest base. It is more of a platform than a program that only wants NPS and CSAT to use.

Pros

Channels from email and SMS to tablets, kiosks, and offline devices

Alerts that flag unhappy customers immediately

AI that reads comments for themes, mood, and trends

Role-based access and single sign-on

Cons

Pricing is unpublished

Bigger than a pure NPS program requires

How Zonka Feedback Compares to AskNicely: Zonka holds on to AskNicely’s closed-loop habit while adding channels and AI analysis, with a quote required.

Pricing: Quote-only, contact vendor for pricing.

User Rating: 4.8/5 (Capterra)

5. Qualtrics (XM for CX): Best for Deep Research and Prediction

Qualtrics is the deep end of this list. Its predictive intelligence digs through feedback reports for patterns nobody asked about, and ExpertReview checks each question and suggests design fixes while you build.

Data arrives from chatbots, websites, and mobile apps, charts come in about 30 formats, and reports are exported as CSV or PDF. Adobe, Marketo, and Salesforce connections tie the findings to the rest of the stack, and crosstab reporting makes slicing easier.

BMW North America used Qualtrics surveys to identify existing workflows within the company and make its dealerships more customer-focused. Expect limited customization, quote-based pricing, and a platform much larger than most NPS programs need.

Pros

Predictive intelligence for pattern-finding

ExpertReview that checks questions while you build

About 30 chart types with CSV and PDF export

Adobe, Marketo, and Salesforce integrations

Cons

Customization has limits

Quote-based pricing and a heavy setup

How Qualtrics Compares to AskNicely: Qualtrics analyzes and researches far more deeply, yet it is an enterprise suite next to AskNicely’s focused NPS platform.

Pricing: Quote-only, contact vendor for pricing.

User Rating: 4.6/5 (Capterra)

6. SurveyMonkey: Best for a Name Stakeholders Already Trust

SurveyMonkey is the name stakeholders already trust, which counts for a lot when a survey needs buy-in. A visual editor helps build surveys that draw a good response rate, with progress bars, scoring, and question randomization, and the Genius engine estimates how likely people are to finish.

Sentiment analysis and a word cloud generator add context, translation widens reach, and integrations with HubSpot, Salesforce, and Automate.io move the data along. Audi Business Innovation uses the enterprise edition to stay in touch with users, build prototypes around them, and learn what they expect.

Pricing begins at $30 a month per user, and a review count above ten thousand on Capterra is the largest on this list. It builds engaging surveys for apps and websites from pre-designed templates, with branching, skip logic, rich media, and live results as responses arrive.

HubSpot uses it to run questionnaires that surface new buyer personas, then updates its customer experience strategy to match. Integrations with Canva, Trello, and HubSpot carry the data onward, and surveys render well across browsers and devices, which matters when answers come from phones.

Pricing starts at $28 a month, a fraction of AskNicely’s entry cost. The payment structure is rigid, and nothing here replaces AskNicely’s real-time team tools.

Pros

Conversational, engaging survey design

Templates, branching, and skip logic

Live results tracking

Rich media support

Cons

A rigid payment structure

No real-time team leaderboards or coaching tools

How Typeform Compares to AskNicely: Typeform trades AskNicely’s NPS focus for a friendlier builder at a far lower entry price, but with less customer-experience automation.

Pricing: Paid plans start at $28/month.

User Rating: 4.7/5 (Capterra)

8. Alchemer: Best for Flexible Surveys With No Per-Response Fees

Alchemer, formerly SurveyGizmo, is the flexible option. It offers a wider range of question types than most rivals, installs without a developer, and charges nothing per response, removing the volume anxiety that AskNicely’s tiers create.

Templates save time; surveys can be multilingual and multimedia, and they include branching, skip logic, and mobile in-app surveys. Reports download in several formats, and BI tools and Webhooks connect without fuss.

Product Madness, a social casino operator, had an NPS program stuck at quarterly surveys. After Alchemer, a Slack link let the team react to low scores and trigger words immediately, which helped retention and event design. There are many sub-menus, and customization is limited.

Pros

A wide selection of question types

No separate per-response charges

Reports are downloadable in several formats

BI tools and Webhooks integrations

Cons

Many sub-menus make it confusing

Limited customization options

How Alchemer Compares to AskNicely: Alchemer offers far more flexibility and no per-response fees, but with a less focused NPS workflow and quote-only pricing.

Pricing: Quote-only, contact vendor for pricing.

User Rating: 4.5/5 (Capterra)

9. Medallia: Best for Enterprise Experience Programs

Medallia is an experience cloud built to lift customer experience at scale. It offers in-app and on-site surveys and shares them through email, and the dashboard is easy to navigate.

Reviews can be flagged by timing, score, and keywords. Google reviews can be analyzed from the same dashboard, performance can be benchmarked against competitors, and text analysis reads comments. Role-based sharing controls who sees what.

Four Seasons used it to pull guest feedback out of comment cards and web surveys into one place, which ended data silos across properties and revealed trends it had missed. Pricing is quote-based, Capterra’s 4.5 rests on 33 reviews, and the word cloud can be inconsistent.

Pros

Review flagging by timing, score, and keywords

Benchmarking for competitive analysis

Text analysis of comments

A dashboard that is easy to navigate

Cons

Pricing is quote-based

The word cloud can be inconsistent

How Medallia Compares to AskNicely: Medallia goes much further on enterprise analysis and benchmarking, with a heavier setup and no public price.

Pricing: Quote-only, contact vendor for pricing.

User Rating: 4.5/5 (Capterra)

10. Jotform: Best for Low-Cost Forms and Surveys With a Free Plan

Capterra lists Jotform among AskNicely’s alternatives, and it is the budget route on this list. It is a form builder first, so a survey is one of many jobs, with templates, conditional logic, integrations, and payment collection in the same account.

A free plan makes testing painless, a first survey can be live within an afternoon, and paid plans start at $34 a month. It’s 4.7 spans more than 2,900 Capterra reviews, one of the sturdiest ratings here.

There is no NPS-specific automation, no leaderboards, and no frontline coaching, so it suits a team that wants a simple survey at low cost rather than a full NPS program.

Pros

A free plan and a low entry price

Conditional logic and many templates

A very large Capterra review base

Integrations and payment collection

Cons

No NPS-specific automation

No leaderboards or frontline coaching tools

How Jotform Compares to AskNicely: Jotform costs a fraction of AskNicely and starts free, but it is a general form builder, not an NPS platform.

Pricing: Free plan available. Paid plans start at $34/month.

User Rating: 4.7/5 (Capterra)

Which AskNicely Alternative Should Be Your Top Pick?

Short on time? These three picks match the three most common reasons for leaving AskNicely.

1. Qualaroo: Best Overall for Broader Feedback, Starting Free

Qualaroo is my pick when AskNicely’s limits are about breadth and cost. I can launch a first survey in roughly five minutes with no developers, or let AI draft it from a prompt. Templates cover exit intent, NPS, CSAT, CES, and SUS.

The dashboard shows my overall NPS through a built-in calculator, triggers actions at set intervals or on custom conditions, and targets by device, browser, timing, and demographics, keeping each Nudge relevant. A named individual can be targeted through the Identify API, and written answers get sentiment scoring, tagging, and a summary, free plan included.

Heatmaps and Session Recordings show the lead-up to a reply, and Salesforce, HubSpot, Mailchimp, and Zapier connections move results along. Since the free plan includes all premium features, I could test them all before paying, and flat-rate paid tiers keep costs level as volume grows.

2. Retently: Best if You Want AskNicely’s Focus for Less

Retently is the swap I would choose if what you value in AskNicely is the NPS focus. NPS, CSAT, and CES surveys go out via email, links, embeds, Intercom, kiosks, and web pop-ups, and branching and multilingual surveys are included. Chargify used its templates to start hearing from customers right away.

The entry price sits far below AskNicely’s, and a 7-day trial lets you test before committing. Mind the credit meter, because sends, opens, and reminders all spend credits, and remember that the tool stays on NPS with limited in-app features, while Capterra’s 4.9 rests on only 30 reviews.

It also avoids the response-tier maths that makes AskNicely hard to forecast, and a trial campaign will show quickly whether the credit meter suits your volume. For a focused outbound program on a tighter budget, that simplicity is the appeal.

3. Survicate: Best if Channel Tiers Are the Problem

Survicate is where I would look if channel tiers are your problem. Surveys run on the site, in the product, via email, and via link, with all data gathered in one Research Hub. Rules by attribute and event decide who sees a question, partial answers still count, and AI-assisted analysis clusters comments into themes.

The free plan covers 25 responses a month, and the NPS, CSAT, and CES formats are included, so a test costs nothing. It also keeps a record you can search later. The trade-offs are plain: price climbs with response volume, there are no leaderboards or frontline coaching tools, and the step from free to paid is noticeable.

I would pilot it on one live survey, since the response slider is where the real cost shows up. For a team that wants in-app and web feedback without having to climb a pricing ladder first, it is the most direct fix.

How Did I Evaluate These AskNicely Alternatives?

I evaluated the AskNicely alternatives on this list based on what a team needs when NPS and CSAT are not enough: open channels from day one, analysis that explains the score, and a price that scales sensibly.

All ten were run through the same six checks, and any thin sample or quoted price is flagged. Pricing and tier structure shaped my weighting because they were my own frustration.

Six factors carried the weight:

User Reviews and Ratings

Ratings come from Capterra, each next to its review count. AskNicely’s 4.6 is a solid score, so I looked for tools that can match it on an equally sturdy sample. Retently’s 4.9 on 30 reviews and Medallia’s 4.5 on 33 got extra scrutiny, and Jotform’s thousands of reviews earned more trust.

Essential Features and Functionality

I started with NPS, CSAT, and CES coverage, then looked at channels, follow-up automation, and how open-text answers are analyzed. What a team really uses in a normal week beats the length of a feature list. Reaching beyond two metrics earned a strong plus because that was my gap.

Ease of Use

I asked how soon a team can launch a first survey with no training. AskNicely felt dated to me, so clean, quick-to-start tools scored well. Heavy setups had to justify themselves with depth.

Customer Support

AskNicely assigns a named customer success manager only on bigger plans, so I checked who gets real help at the entry level. With quote-based vendors, the question was whether support is included or sold separately, and help that appears only at enterprise-scale cost points.

Value for Money

AskNicely’s entry price was the benchmark, so I priced every tool with analysis and channels included. Posted prices and free plans scored higher than numbers revealed after a sales call. I noted tools that meter by credits or responses because simple pricing gets complicated there.

Personal Experience and Experts’ Opinions

Entries for tools I use say so, and they carry details no pricing page shows. For the others, I relied on research and on the results customers like BMW, Audi, and Four Seasons have shared. I checked each vendor for shutdowns and acquisitions up front, because a platform that disappears costs more than any license.

How Do You Choose the Right AskNicely Alternative for Your Team?

Look for the row that matches your biggest AskNicely frustration. Where a row lists several tools, they tackle it in different ways, so read my notes first.

If My Main AskNicely Frustration Is…

Consider This Alternative

Pricing starts high and scales with responses

Qualaroo, Retently, SurveyMonkey, or Typeform

In-app and mobile surveys sit on higher tiers

Qualaroo or Survicate

NPS and CSAT alone feel too narrow

Qualaroo, Survicate, or Typeform

I still need a closed-loop follow-up

Zonka Feedback or Medallia

I want enterprise research and predictive depth

Qualtrics, Alchemer, or Medallia

I want a familiar builder at a low price

SurveyMonkey, Typeform, or Jotform

When Two Metrics Are Not Enough, Widen the Toolkit

AskNicely does a focused job well, and its real-time dashboards and follow-up habits are worth respecting. My search began elsewhere: an entry price that climbs with volume, channels held for higher plans, and a toolkit that stops at NPS and CSAT.

Which tool fits depends on your next step. Retently keeps the NPS focus for less, while Survicate and Qualaroo open in-app and web surveys without a tier gate.

Larger programs should look at Qualtrics, Alchemer, or Medallia, and Typeform, SurveyMonkey, and Jotform cover simpler needs cheaply. Qualaroo fits teams that want the score and the reason, with a free start.

If you want broader feedback, begin with Qualaroo: switch on the free plan, publish one Nudge, and see how the AI analysis reads your first real responses.

[6543

post-8196","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-alternatives

10 AskNicely Alternatives for NPS and Beyond

<meta name="description" content="Outgrowing AskNicely’s NPS and CSAT focus?
